Hi Julee: I don't think my tools or training suggests either esteem or sophistication. I have been looking through an old harmony and counterpoint textbook, but at some of the basic skills I'm still very slow (and the current status of the book is lost with a bookmark in the middle, probably somewhere in my room). Composition of things like Hit'oreri was by ear. Fortunately, an unaccompanied duet doesn't present an excess of musicological complications. Other things I have written are therefore riddled with unintentional "errors".

As to software, I haven't managed to wean myself off of Noteworthy Composer for entering scores, although its detractions are substantial (including the fact that I run it through a Windows emulator). I use modified versions of NWC2LY and - of late - NWC2MusicXml (which allows me to use things like Melody Player for voice synthesis), and then I hack the Lilypond output by hand... Not always fun or easy, but it usually works. Some day I'll probably move to something like Sibelius!

I found your Hit’oreri especially pleasing contrapuntal style. You're beyond my skills right now. I'm using Sibelius 2 for software and Walter Piston's 3rd edition of Harmony bolstered by an idiot's guide along the way, and for contrast.

I wonder if you are using software, or if you think it's the lazy way.

Hi Steve and Sammy, Unfortunately, we haven't had the moments to put into getting the site finished lately. We hope to have it up by the end of May. Sorry for the delay, and we're ecstatic that there's such enthusiasm about it!

@Sammy-J Have you figured out how to get involved in the 150 Song project? I can't figure out how from what I see on the site. Perhaps it's only an informal thing?

The 150 Songs project looks interesting. I'm going to keep an eye on that site as the project develops. Good luck with your involvement.

A nice body of work

You seem to draw your inspiration from a number of different sources.

Quite an eclectic range of musical interests you have
