It’s been tricky to find a phone. Because my last one in Australia was crap, I didn’t mind paying for a phone that I could use in Australia too, but that seems to mean enormous prices. But prepaid is new to America (plans all have 1-2 year contracts), and if I want to use the phone in Canada, I need it to be unlocked, too (and to buy a Canadian SIM when I get there), so it becomes a very costly ordeal. In the end I bought a mediocre Motorola v188 which is quad-band GSM (so it will work the world-over), locked for now, but for only a moderately expensive deal (about AU$110 including 150 mins talk time- yes, that’s a lot for a mediocre phone, but less than I would pay otherwise, I think). At least now I have a phone so I can finally fill in that field on forms… And talk to people while on trains and buses. (And give it to nice Jewish babes?)

is there any chance we can squeeze into your suitcase for the other 7 months of your trip and have as much fun as you are having now?? just chuck out a few bundles of clothes and replace them with people- easy!
